The Details

This Storm Drain Project is in its 6th year of a long-ranged goal of turning the regions around the Puget Sound back to be environmentally sound for all who inhabit it. The Storm Drain Project helps support one aspect of this goal.

There are over 600 unmarked drains in the city of Puyallup and its surrounding areas. On September 10th, from 8am to noon my group will be focusing on labeling approximately 400 of these unmarked drains. The Stream Team will supply all of the necessary plaques (labels), glue, safety vests, and tools. I will be providing the leadership and organizing the project.

The project plan is to scrape/clean the cement around the storm drains and then glue on the plaques provided by the Stream Team. The materials used will be glue, cement scraper and the plaques. We plan to gather at 8:00am with an environmental educational presentation. We will begin the labor portion by 8:30 and hope to be done by noon, followed by a barbecue lunch.

This project has no costs because the organization provides all the materials needed including safety vests.

The only hazard we might face is cars driving by. How this safety issue will be dealt with is by having each member wear a safety vest, as well as having at least 2 adults with each group that goes out. My Goal is to have about 50 people come, so if you can that would be a great help!
